The Daily Choice: Al Lover & The Haters – Ballin’ Chains and B-Movies

by

There is one disappointment to be had with the Earth-scorching bit of Hendrix-inspired rock ‘n’ roll that is Al Lover & The Hater’s “Ballin’ Chains & B-Movies” – there is no Al Lover, that I know of, represented. The affable, hilariously ‘big-boned’ co-host of Yo! MTV Raps had no part, that I know, in the making of this fine bit of psychedelia. Instead, Al Lover is merely a psych-loving, hip-hop head that managed to cook up what sounds like a vintage bit of Hendrix, steeped in a heady cloud of salvia and meant to be played at extreme decibels in a dark, carpeted basement. It’s psych rock for the crossover stoner. So good, that I can forgive the deceptive promise of the once great other Al Lover.

Al Lover just dropped a fantastic psych-boom-bap over at Potholes In My Blog.
