Scary sounds persist! It’s almost Halloween and the devils and demons that wander the streets in these evenings of evil are already peeking their way out of alleys and garbage cans.
Don’t know about you, but I’m going as Professor Plum for an life-size game of Clue. What will you be? A dilophosaurus? A human smore? A can of Vick’s Vapo-Rub?
Be something, be safe.
And enjoy the shit out of this fantastic mixtape from the good ole Mondo Boys of Aquarium Drunkard.
No candy tonight. But I do have a song that randomly hit me as very halloween post worthy as I was listening today. Off the new Gigantics album, aptly titled Die Already, this track “Keep Walking” features local duo StepCousins on lyrics, aka Macklemore and Xperience. With talk of “ghosts in the alley’s” and praying for people in coffins, and a downright haunting beat, I couldn’t not post it.
Die Already is an epic hip hop project, the brainchild of Orny Osborne (AKA one half of Grayskul), who teaming up with more than 50 other mostly local wordsmiths over a period of years, dubbed his collaborative identity as The Gigantics. Among the other guests are Aesop Rock, Murs, Josh Martinez, Cancer Rising and the always colorful Barfly. And because of it and a few other albums to hit our ears this year, this blog thinks it might finally be starting to be smitten with local hip hop again.
