Noah Sander’s Word of the Week: jangle - to listen to music that involves shuffling of the feet, shaking of one’s mop-top, clicking of one’s leather bound shoes.
In the weeks past I have openly vocalized a certain tiredness towards the garage rock genre of music. I’d thought perhaps that the crunchy pop melodies and lo-fi guitar wails had worn out a spot in my heart. Their lease was up and I was quickly, and quietly, kicking them to the curb.
Then the good folk over at The Weekly Tape Deck exposed me to this. A jangly bit of doo-wop garage rock. Not all lo-fi, pee-stained back alleys, but instead tight pants, beetle boots, and a short-haired blond lead singer that you want wrap your arms around.
Caught me off guard, and now I must reassess.

Each and every one of you (and me and that guy poking holes in a styrofoam dinosaur costume across the way from you) have been waiting in eager, sweaty-palmed anticipation for a full-length album from the soon-to-be-famous Jacuzzi Boys. Long ago, in the days when garage rock revival still toed the edge of the great music pond, Jacuzzi Boys released solid, thorough bits of garage rock that turned you on your moppy head. You (let’s be honest, we) thought it was the great, new thing. The sliced bread of rock ‘n’ roll.
And then, the Jacuzzi Boys, they disappeared.
What followed was a pitter-patter of singles that peaked your interest, sent you scurrying to stores to raid the bins before the other discerning listeners got there.
And now, finally, they’re releasing a full-length.
A big, grungy full length that each and all have been waiting for, for a long, long time.
