Belbury Poly released one of the best albums of the year so far. A trippy combo of The Books-like sampling mixed with some amazing subtle electronic orchestration. If you hadn’t had the pleasure of enjoying Belbury Poly prior to this year’s record (like simple-minded folk like myself) perhaps you’ve also missed out on equally talented, similarly-veined artists like The Advisory Circle. Well friend, it’s time to bring that sad vacancy to an end. The Advisory Circle seem to play within a similar sandbox, but luckily that sandbox is rife with expansion capability. This song, “Wildspot” bounces from an almost Village Green Preservation Society bit of English folk to the warped synth of some 80s fantasy flick. Somehow it works magically.
