Husky’s “Tidal Wave”
It’s somewhat ironic that Sub Pop would need to reach to literally the other side of the world to find band named Husky. I’m not complaining though. Heavily influenced by many of the sames names that wrought Fleet Foxes, Husky’s come out with a much more modern timbre and pop pacing, not far off from the recent output of perhaps the Local Natives or what little we’ve heard from the High Highs. Yesterday the label released an animated video for “Tidal Wave,” a psych-tinged acoustic jam that isn’t the only single from the Austrailian’s debut record Forever So to display a healthy reverence for Sufjan (which of course I endorse heavily), but it does look to be the most popular cut.
Husky headlines the Tractor Tavern this Sunday October 28th with Hannah Georgas in support. After watching the video and writing that last paragraph I obviously have to go.
