The Daily Choice: Bob Azzam and his Orchestra – The Last Time

by

From the group shot of a bunch of smiling gentleman on some coastal retreat, you start to worry right off the bat that Bob Azzam and his Orchestra are the sort of 60s boy-group treacle so often found in the bargain bins of your local thrift store. Worry not though, Bob Azzam (from what I’ve read a true master of musical disguise) and his Orchestra take the reigns of The Rolling Stones “The Last Time” and turn it in to some amalgamation of drug-jazz, The Beach Boys, and your neighborhood a capella group’s second performance on stage. To say the least, it skirts the edge of trippiness.

“The Last Time” appears on Bob Azzam and his Orchestra’s 1968 Columbia albumĀ New Sounds LP.

Thanks to Aquarium Drunkard for the find.
