It feels like a while since Dirty Beaches have sauntered in to our sonic barroom and this new single from the Kingfisher Bluez Single Club is well worth the wait. Gone, for the moment, are the ragged takes on noir and the breezy loops of distant dance floor soul, instead “Elizabeth’s Soul” is a sad, haunting little instrumental that brings to mind Mr. Dirty Beaches himself, guitar in hand, perched on the edge of a dock, the clouds slowly blotting out the sun. Absolutely beautiful.
