Blasted Canyons shook the foundations of my rock ‘n’ roll room down their quicksand core on their first record. And though between then and now I’ve developed a few qualms about the band, I can easily say that their new single blew me out of my argyle tights. What starts with a sludgy growl of noise, segues in to a decidedly grungy bit of pop lead by a surprisingly restrained bit of yallerin’ from sometimes front-man Matt Jones. It isn’t as rough around the edges as “Ice Cream Man” but it rockets along with a similarly piss-stained bit of grunge.

Blasted Canyons new EP 2nd Place will be out on Castle Face on April 20th.
