The Knux “Run” ft. Kid Cudi
So, I had a couple of The Knux videos to choose from (electronic press kits are just like Lunchables in many ways, probably better tasting too). I could’ve went with “1974” but the song reminded me so much of the Black Eyed Peas that I had a conniption fit. You know what I’m talking about — electronic drums that the drummer from Oasis could mimic, studio effects put into questionable practice, female vocals that aren’t Fergie, but they aren’t not Fergie either. Ugh. NEXT. The second video was “Razorblade,” which can accurately be described as “LA shit.” Models. Expensive booze. Hotel rooms. The video ends up being more dangerous than the actual song. I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to work. Finally, like Goldilocks figuring out what porridge is most appropriate for the situation, I came across “Run.” Bunk, glossy, simulated “end of the line” Lenny Kravitz main guitar riff aside, I like the vocal melody during the chorus and I can appreciate a good pillow-fight amongst supermodels.
This “alternative hip-hop duo” put out the album Eraser back in September of 2011 and this song is on that record. Check them out at the High Dive this Sunday, March 18th. Tickets are available here.
