The Daily Choice: Lower Dens - Brains

Toss Lower Dens in to the pile of bands that I completely missed out on via their first pass and am now constantly reminding myself to pick up their album and then never doing so. This new track, “Brains” is so beautifully monotonous - the same quiet guitar and drum looming in the background of every moment as Jana Bell and company’s voices slowly rise to a crescendo over it. It feels catastrophic as if the pulsing beat is a countdown towards some sort of inevitable doomsday and the interwoven voices are the harbingers of that doom. It’s starkly attractive, like a supermodel post-apocalypse.

Lower Dens new album Nootropics is out May 1st. on Ribbon Music.
