Win Tickets to Fitz & the Tantrums at the Showbox
“Guitar driven” is less and less an operative description for the evolving face of modern pop and for two nights in January Seattle gets to live up R&B’s recent moment in the sun with two of 2011’s more soulful pop practitioners.
At first blush Fitz & the Tantrums and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. might seem like completely different bands, but they are alike the ways that seems to matter most, stage energy, and other ways too. On top of a shared energy these bands bring a showmanship to the stage, and they also both do a lot with a little. Jr. Jr. expand their appeal with loops, occasionally getting all Dennis Wilson on us. Fitz and Co. lay it down hard with usually just four backing musicians versus a regiment of Dap Kings or Bar Kays.
