Sound on the Sound Presents: Ravenna Woods, Weinland, Fort Union

“Enough with the Ravenna Woods, is one of you in the band or something?”

Such was a memorable Facebook comment left on Sound on the Sound’s about two weeks into our discovery of Ravenna Woods in January of 2010. Looking back, we don’t blame the guy, we could not stop raving about the band. But then again, a year plus later, we still can’t. In a city saturated with acoustic fare and pretty harmonies, Ravenna’s fierce take on song-writing, picking and performance elevates them above the crowd and evokes more of a punk aesthetic than your average Seattle folk show.

Ravenna Woods makes music that is unexpected and a year later and a new album’s worth of material and we are still as intrigued as we were listen one. This May, the band will release their second album, Valley of the Headless Men and Sound on the Sound is incredibly excited to present the band’s CD release show at Columbia City Theater alongside Weinland (from Portland) and Fort Union (a new project featuring members from Friday Mile, Big Sur and Indian Valley Line).

Sound on the Sound Presents:

Ravenna Woods, Weinland, Fort Union

Friday May 6th - 9pm/21+/$8

At Columbia City Theater

Tickets are already available for this show online and we recommend to be safe you pick them up early, we expect this show to sell out.
