Why Doe Bay is the Best Fest in the Northwest, In 5 Minutes or Less [video]

Slip ‘n’ Slide at Doe Bay Fest 2009 ::: photo by Josh Lovseth
As Sound on the Sound readers are well aware, we think Doe Bay Fest is pretty much the best thing ever. And despite having vibrantly experienced the last two festivals with our own eyes, ears and hearts, this patchwork video about the very best of Doe Bay 2010 by Nick Simmons and Justin Henning took our breath away. We know how beautiful the festival is. How there are countless adorable children dancing about. We know how the sun hits in a magical light. How crazy the slip’n’slide was. We know how stunning The Head and The Heart was overlooking the San Juan Islands at sunset. And how epic the sing alongs were that night around our picnic table. We never expected anyone to capture all of it so succinctly and beautifully, not only for those of you who weren’t able to make it last year, but also as a reminder for those of us who were lucky enough to be there. Either way, it’s a tantalizing snapshot of a few glorious days last summer and a glimpse of what awaits us this August.
Here’s our best advice for you experiencing the best fest in Northwest for yourself this summer:
* Ask for August 11th to the 14th off: today. At the very least, ask for the 12th & the 13th off, that’s when the main stage music is happening.
* No, you won’t know who’s playing before you buy your tickets, but as the video below will demonstrate while who is making the music is an integral part, its not the only thing that makes Doe Bay Fest magical. (Plus the last two line-ups should give you faith this year’s will be awesome).
* Buy your tickets as soon as they go on sale May 1st at 10am on Brown Paper Tickets and DoeBayFest.com
* If you’re lucky enough to get your tickets to Doe Bay Fest, you’re invited to the line-up announcement party June 2nd at Columbia City Theater. Get there early, because the theater has a capacity of 300 and 800 tickets will be sold to the Fest. Bonus: we’ll be showing The Doe Bay Sessions, including some previously unseen footage on the big screen that night.
* Stay tuned to Sound on the Sound, because you’ll hear Doe Bay Fest news here first

Anyone know what ticket prices were for last year?

Ryan, they were $45 per person last year (plus camping/cabin costs) but the price of this year’s tickets haven’t been announced yet. We will definitely let you know when we know.
