Winnipeg’s Les Jupes brought their intriguing, sweet-and-salty sound to the Comet Tavern Friday night. The four-piece combines the catchiness of pop with the rich darkness of Michael Petkau Falk’s baritone vocals, then glosses gently over the top with a layer of shimmer. Difficult to define and never quite what you expect, Les Jupes’ music is a constant series of tiny surprises, striking but still comfortable, like a dressed-up version of your favorite jeans.
