Mark Sultan’s had a year of ups and downs. Released a new album on Metric’s Last Gang Records, had a massive drug-fueled meltdown at The Almighty Defender’s show, made a tear-wrenching split from King Khan, and so on and so forth. But drama aside, Mark Sultan is still putting out distortion wracked bits of rock and roll that’ll put a smile on your face, and a cringe in your step.

“Status”, from the above mentioned new album, is a typical, though seriously enjoyable bit of doo-wop fuzz-explosion as only Mark Sultan, one-man band that he is, can do. Amidst all the drama though the reckless nature of Sir Sultan seems more desperate, more drunken. And honestly, I like it.
