The Daily Choice: Disappears - Magics

There’s a sort of knife-edge punk amidst the roiling waves of noise that make up the foundations of Disappears’ multi-hued sound.  The vocals on tracks like “Magic” aren’t the sing-songy melody you’d perhaps associate the pulsating tremolo of kraut-rock influenced drone-psych like this.  Oh no, the monotone holler that slices like a switchblade through the repeater fuzz is almost pure spiked-leather punk rock. I want to turn this music on in the background as I smoke a tightly rolled joint just as much as I want have this blasting from cracked speaker boom box as I comb up my mohawk and caress the words stab-tatted on my knuckles.
