The Daily Choice: Brilliant Colors - Absolutely Anything

I can’t shake the feeling that this track sounds remarkably like “99 Love Balloons.”  And, 80s-pop hater that I claim to be, am not saying this in a negative way, just that there’s a certain pop, lock, and shimmy shuffle this trio emits that reminds of inflated balloons, preferably of the, yikes, color red.

That said, this isn’t your blazer-and-jeans wearing cousin’s ode to the 80s.  Nuh uh, no way.  This is fuzz and grit and a wall of sound with no cracks to be seen.  This is three talented ladies making good on their EP’s short promise of melodic garage rock to come.

Nena, essen Ihr Herz heraus.
