The Daily Choice: Turbo Fruits - Trouble!

picture-1

I stumbled in to a Be My Own Pet show at SXSW a few years back and found myself whipped in to a fervor by a blond haired beauty named Jemina Pearl and a trio of youthful lads that backed her.  At the time it was certainly Jemina that drew my eye, all spinning blond hair and manic energy, but when the guitarist’s finger tip literally fell off in the middle of a wild solo, my eye was turned.

That band imploded, as all amazing youth-bands do, but the three remaining have put together an equally manic bit of awesomeness with the unlikely moniker of Turbo Fruits … and I think I love it more.  Be My Own Pet was like being at your high school prom on speed - all torn cuffs and frayed party dresses.  Turbo Fruits is like the after party at your friends house - all keg beer, concrete slabs and cheerleaders horfing in the rhododendrons.

It’s really just a matter of taste.
