The Daily Choice: Sic Alps - L. Mansion

It’s been too long since the duo (trio?) Sic Alps put out any new music, so the arrival of this new 7″ is both a pleasant treat and, well, a bit of a surprise.  Pleasantry aside, my surprise derives from the fact that the Sic Alps I know are squelchy noise-rockers, trucking along on the backbone of some truly solid song structure.  The A-side on this piece of wax though is a slightly fuzzy (tinged with fuzz perhaps?) acoustic ditty that recalls a dimly lit cafe in the 1960s not the squelchy fuzz I’m used to.

Aside from that the B-side is a Donovan cover.  Yes, that Donovan.

Considered my perplexed, but happily so.
