The Daily Choice: Blank Dogs - Setting Fire To Your House

Let’s get this out there from the get-go: Blank Dogs are not music for everyone. This is loud, messy music that brings to mind industrial warehouses populated by underage youth. I’ve found myself, on long sojourns through a variety of city streets and other urban backgrounds, being drawn in to some sort of bizarre trance with the music of Blank Dogs filtering through my head phones. A sort of pulsing haze where in some strange way I’m all of sudden closer to my surroundings. My feet are touching the street a little bit harder, my breaths are taking in a bit more of the sensory overload that is a city’s pungent air, my eyes are catching the gleam of light in a sharper, harsher way.
Blank Dogs aren’t music for everyone, but “Setting Fire To Your House” off the new album Under and Under, is sort of Blank Dogs light, the same sort of rag-tag metallic noise loosely filtered in to the confines of your typical song structure. When I say loosely, I’m not kidding.
Take a chance.
