A Sign of the Devils

Among long time locals few bands are afforded as much reverence as the Murder City Devils. And the fact that despite calling Seattle home all of my nearly 28 years I’ve never been to a show reflects poorly on my as a so-called “music blogger” competency in relation to the local music scene. With the announcement of their February 2009 tour today, I will finally have an opportunity to remedy this glaring omission in my historical perspective. Featuring members that have moved on to other current local bands of note, the Cave Singers and Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death among them, the Murder City Devils spawned .

Last appearing in Seattle at 2006′s Capitol Hill Block Party for their 10th anniversary after nearly a five year hiatus, this time around they’ve got two dates at the Showbox at the Market on February 11th and 12th as the start of a seven date west coast tour. Thinking of our younger rock brethren the first of the two shows is an all-ages show! Tickets for the Seattle shows go on sale tomorrow, December 11 through ticketmaster, if you use the password. The Portland show is already on sale.

Noted in the press release that arrived in my inbox was that Sub Pop is seizing the moment by releasing all three MCD full lengths as well as the Thelema EP as limited editions on “high quality color vinyl” February 17th. I bet those will go like hotcakes. Probably faster. Check the tour dates below, and don’t dawdle on those tickets if you even think you might want to go.
