Siberian is Done

Siberian ::: Photo by Josh
Via Lineout, we learn Siberian is joining the ever swelling ranks of sweet Seattle rock bands to call it quits in 2008. In our humble estimation these gentlemen owned the honor of having the 5th best song of all of 2007 for “Paper Birds” and the 7th best Northwest album of 2007 for With Me, which of course makes this announcement that much more difficult to swallow.
This now makes four of our top ten favorite local bands of the moment breaking up this year (the rest being Das Llamas, Ice Age Cobra, and Hopscotch Boys). WTF?!!!!
This blog is soooooooo depressed right now. We’re becoming afraid to proclaim a new favorite, since we seem to only see them break up the following year. SRSLY. This needs trend to stop. Like now.

the funny thing is, i was just thinking about these guys the other night. i was sort of disappointed that they weren’t more popular than they were (especially since i featured them prominently on a list of seattle bands i expected to blow up this year), and really thought they would be picked up by a major label eventually.
then, i come home to a myspace bulletin titled, “thanks and goodbye.” SHIT.

p.s. guys, pick solo acts. as i always say, “you can’t break up with yourself.”

i’m thoroughly miffed. i don’t understand - perhaps there is some enlightened sould out there who can explain this, but they were doing well with the album and starting to tour the midwest as well. they were supposed to have one last hurrah at chop suey, that’s effing down the drain. wtf. again, i am thoroughly miffed. i hope it’s not because zach needs more money to buy v-necks.

[...] whatever reason or another, Siberian is no longer and that makes me rather sad. Sound Of The Sound was another blog that was saddened by the news. They knew about the break up early on… [...]
