Young Buck After-Party Shooting in Exciting Kennewick, WA
Apparently G-Unit star “Young Buck” played a show in Kennewick, WA. And what do you do after playing a hip-hop show in the Tri-Cities? You invite the audience to an after-party at The Hilton. (Kennewick has a Hilton?!) Not surprisingly, 50 people show up….because I guarantee you there is nothing better going on in the Tri-Cities on a Saturday Night. According to Police Reports, a fight broke out in the parking lot between Young Buck’s entourage and rival rappers (Young Buck has rival rappers in Kennewick?!) and gunfire erupted. At least 6 shots were fired, hitting near by cars and one unlucky fellow who was shot in both legs.
No word on if the violence at last Saturday’s show will affect tonight’s Young Buck Seattle show at Chop Suey. (UPDATE: As of 7pm tonight’s Seattle show is still a go)
tip of the hat to my co-worker, Chloe, who asked: “Abbey you’re our music source, was there really a Young Buck shooting in Kennewick?”

Digg This!

The majority of those involved were from Seattle how GAY! Who the hell is Young Buck anyway, and believe ME I had Quite a few things BETTER to do than go to a Young Buck concert at a GAY club like Paradise.

While the above comment was marked for approval, because it wasn’t spam, in the future such comments will not be approved.
Sound on the Sound does not condone or appreciate such derogatory language, in fact we find it reprehensable.
I didn’t deny this one, because we haven’t been explicit about language that’s acceptable in comments. We don’t care about cuss words, but unless your commenting on the shitty sound at a Modest Mouse show — Sound on the Sound is a strictly hate free community.

[...] In our own backyard (yes, Kennewick is our backyard), gunfire broke out after an appearance by G-Unit star Young Buck. Nine people are in jail after the firefight erupted at an after-party at the Kennewick Hilton between members of G-Unit and rival rappers. No news yet on Young Buck’s Seattle appearance last night at Chop Suey, but if there is, Sound on the Sound will be sure to report on it. [...]

wow, i love how people from seattle always make fun of the tri-cities. yes, kennewick has a hilton, the tri-cities area is home to nearly 200,000…so why wouldn’t we have at least 1 nice hotel? I admit that little goes on here compared to seattle, but things are starting to pick up. The Young Buck concert was something different for the tri-cities, and its really too bad that a bunch of guys from seattle had to screw it up and put a negative light on this whole thing. Young Buck says he was not involved in the shooting and neither were any members of g-unit. go ahead and say what you will about my town, i just wanted to throw in a little more information that was mentioned yet.

Actually for your information, there are a ton of things to do in the Tri-Cities. You like hockey, we have a hockey team. How about baseball? We have one of those too. How about football? We have an arena football team, Tri-Cities Fever, that won their division their inaugural season beating out Everett. We also had the broadway show, Cats, showing that same weekend. Every summer, we have the Columbia Cup here before your SeaFair. Not too mention, all the wineries on this side of the state, which include the Oldest Winery and the Largest Winery. A cool fact is that 99% of the wine produced in Washington State comes from the East side of the state. And that’s a small list of what the Tri-Cities has to offer.
The Tri-Cities including the 3 surrounding small communities has a population of almost 200,000, roughly around the same size of Tacoma. Also, the Tri-Cities is one of the fastest growing community in Washington State. Tri-Cities grew 17.8% while Seattle only grew 7.2%. Why should it surprise you that the Tri-Cities have a Hilton with that amount of population?
To quote Abbey, “Sound on the Sound is a strictly hate free community.” If that is so, why do you commit the hatred towards the Tri-Cities? You slam the Tri-Cities with a lack of knowledge. You treat the Tri-Cities like the rest of the United States treats the Pacific Northwest.
I have a suggestion for you. If you want to slam something, try it first. The Tri-Cities is not full of hicks or any other stereotype you might believe there to be. So open your eyes and take a look around.

Katie, John, and Eric,
sorry for sounding like a typical seattle-ite, the tri-cities have changed A LOT since I was last there. My memories of the tri-cities are from the 80’s and 90’s…. when most of Washington was podunk, Seattle included. But I gotta admit I was shocked there was a Young Buck show there and a Hilton. (i’m sure seattle has a hilton, but I have no idea where it is.)
So, really no offense was meant to your hometown or current town. Though when re-reading the post, I see how offense was taken. I do sincerely apologize for the glibness and what must have come across as hypocrisy. Everytime a friend goes out east they come back telling me of how different their child hood towns are, with bars and music venues. While Seattle is being ruined by over development, it sounds like the Eastern Side of the State is benefitting. The next time I’m in the Tri-Cities or passing through, I owe you all a drink. And I really appreciate your well thought out and written comments and all the info on the Tri Cities.

tricity people are just a bunch of people who complain about other people saying they’re hicks but they really are. Their is nothing wrong with being a hillbilly, you are who you are and you should just accept it. Once you do, other people will too. It’s okay! Don’t be ashamed of who you are. Every one person helps the world in some way and we need people to work at the local walmart and serve school lunches and work at gas stations. Without tricity, Washington folk, where would we be?

I opened up for YoungBuck that night at Club Paradise (in Richland). I met him and took pictures with him on his tour bus. And I can say, yes he did get Robbed, Yes he was high on E-pills, weed and e-pills. And yes, on that paticular night, there wasn’t anything else poppin’. The men arrested for the crimes are from Seattle. And a man got shot in the ass.
