A Plethora of Reasons to Love A Gun That Shoots Knives in This Photo Alone

This is A Gun That Shoots Knives latest band photo:

A Gun That Shoots Knives

Beyond the obivous, which is: this is the most kick ass band promo photo EVER… A Gun That Shoots Knives and this photo are lovable for SO many reasons.

1. The set and design were created entirely by Stubby, lead singer of AGTSK, who spent three days in the bands basement working on the project. Stubby’s mom also helped, choosing “the ugliest possible fabric, in every color of the rainbow, from Value Village.”

2. When this photo was taken two of the band members were seriously ill. Bassist, jeffrey, had an ear infection….in both ears. Drummer Kelly (band alias “Curly”) had pneumonia and had to be tied to a ladder for the levitating in the clouds effect. According to Stubby “he was the greenest I had ever seen human flesh.” (entire band nods in agreement)

3. The photo was taken by Gunther Jose Frank, who takes all of AGTSK photos and he’s amazing.

4. A small poster version of this photo will be included with every copy of the band’s soon to be released album Miracle. Will it be hanging over my bed? Maybe.

5. The boys posed in this position, in the dead of winter, in a basement, some while deathly ill (see comment 2) for hundreds of takes… just to get the perfect one.  Now that’s commitment!

6. This is just the beginning: the boys forthcoming album Miracle will feature 19 songs, there is a national tour in the making, the promise of not one but 4 EPs of new material in the coming two years, and the boys are hoping to increase the visual part of their performing as soon as possible. Does that mean more posters like this?! Or new additions to the Costume Closet? More stage shennanigans that will put the stuffed kitten sacrafice to shame? yes!

7. They’ll be playing with three other great local bands, Thee Emergency, Ice Age Cobra, and The Hands: next Saturday - 2/17/07 - at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard.

8. Their songs are all ridiculously catchy and musically varied…. no two sound the same. Their performances are indescribably awesome.

9. This is not the first time they’ve posed naked together as a band.

10. And lastly, but certainly not leastly, they were Sound on the Sound’s first interview… and they served us beer, really good beer. Full interview coming next week very soon!!
